“I approach and develop treatment programmes holistically”
Having worked extensively with international powerlifters in Ireland, I have a vast strength and conditioning knowledge, be it lifters or runners. With over 20+ years’ experience as a physio with a Master’s in Health Practice, I approach and develop treatment programmes holistically, understanding that exercise can be pivotal to supporting a person’s mental health and overall wellbeing. Working in conjunction with Physio Mechanics based in Pukekohe, I am passionate about my client’s wellness overall, understanding that every body deserves to move and feel their best, and working with them to ensure their short- and long-term goals can be met in a realistic way.
Working in the past with soccer (Waitakere United) and rugby teams (Marist Rugby and Bective Rugby) in the initial stages of my physiotherapy career, progressing through to runners and powerlifters (ABS Powerlifting and Irish Powerlifting team) more recently, I have found that many injuries occur simply through poor mechanics or excessive loading on the body. To best help my clients, I knew that gaining the most accurate data (using 3D gait analysis) would help me to deliver the necessary advice for meaningful improvements in mechanics and performance.
Being able to run correctly, complete a squat (standing up out of a chair) and a deadlift (picking a small child up off the ground) are essential functional movements that everyone can learn to do well to avoid common injuries, which can have significant limitations on daily life. Working to treat you with the whole picture in mind rather than simply the injury at hand, we focus on unique body designs and patient goals to develop personalised treatment programmes.
